Born in Santa Monica, California, April 6, 1955, the son of Dr. Michael and Elaine Martini

Grew up in Pacific Palisades as a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church

Attended Corpus Christi Catholic School and was taught by the Sisters of St. Louis

Played sports at the Palisades Recreation Center, excelling in baseball but also leading the park’s young teenage team to the L.A. city flag football championship as its quarterback

Graduated in 1972 from Loyola High School, Los Angeles where he was the Head Yell Leader

Called to be a yell leader for God, earned a Master of Divinity degree at St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo in 1980

Ordained as a diocesan priest for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 1980

Associate pastor at St. Dorothy’s Church in Glendora 1980 -1984

Campus Minister at St. Bernard High School in Playa del Rey 1985-1987

Resided and celebrated Mass at St. Clement’s Church in Santa Monica 1985-1987

Chaplain of Santa Clara High School in Oxnard 1988

Collaborated with the Real Men Cook Foundation to offer prostate screening for the early detection of cancer to save men’s lives.

Catalyzed the effort to organize 100 Black Catholic leaders to engage in the works of social justice

Oversaw the 85th Anniversary Celebration of the Church of the Transfiguration

Instrumental with a group of clergy in Saving Our Sabbaths and having the L.A. Marathon run on a holiday Monday rather than on a Sunday or Sabbath day.

Received the Papal Honor of being named Chaplain to His Holiness (April 2010)

Enjoys playing golf and bridge and has only two segments left to complete his dream of riding a bicycle across the United States from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean
